The Commission of Audit completed the Performance Audit reports on the Construction of Macao Gymnasium for East Asian Games, Construction of Macao International Shooting Centre, Construction of Stadium of Macao University of Science and Technology and Expansion and Improvement of Macao Forum, Media and Information Centre. These reports, delivered to the Chief Executive and the Legislative Assembly earlier, will be officially released on December 12.

The Commissioner of Audit, Choi Mei Lei, introduced Audit Report on the Accounts of the Macao Government of Year 2006 at the Legislative Assembly on October 16th, which was submitted to the Chief Executive earlier and then remitted to the Legislative Assembly. As part of a series of Performance Audit reports made by the Commission of Audit on the sports venues and facilities of the 4th East Asia Games, the Commission recently completed the audit report on the construction of Macao Olympic Aquatic Center and submitted it to the Chief Executive, which was then remitted to the Legislative Assembly. The Commission of Audit has completed the Performance Audit report on the construction of Nam Van Lake Aquatic Sports Center, as the first of the series of audit reports on the construction of sports venues and facilities for the 4th East Asia Games, and officially issued the report on March 20^th.

The Commission of Audit completed the Performance Audit report on the Attendance and Supervision of the Inspectors of Public Departments aimed at finding out whether there is any insufficiency in supervisory measures concerning the attendance of the inspectors of public departments, or whether such measures are strictly implemented.

The Commission of Audit completed the value-for-money audit report on Purchase, Use, Maintenance, Repair and Disposal of Medical Equipments, which Macao Health Bureau purchased or disposed from year 2000 to 2004 with value of MOP 150,000 or above. The audit was targeted at finding out whether the relevant authority had satisfactorily managed these medical equipments and made good use of these resources.

The Commission of Audit has completed the special regularity audit report on the 4th East Asian Games analyzing what experience the Macao government may learn from its setting up a joint-stock limited company with public funds to organize such large-scale sports event for the first time. The special regularity audit report comprehensively analyzed the government’s performance in using the public funds from three aspects: formulation of budget, incorporation of the joint-stock limited company and construction of infrastructure of the 4th East Asia Games.

The Commissioner of Audit, Choi Mei Lei, made brief introduction to the Audit Report on the Accounts of the Macao Government of Year 2005 at the Legislative Assembly on October 31st. The Commission of Audit has completed auditing the Accounts of the Macao Government of Year 2005 according to its function and power... The audit results confirmed that the financial statements contained in the general accounts of Macao government “appropriately demonstrates the asset and liability conditions ending 31 December 2005 and the annual revenue and expenditure accounts settled on 31 December 2005 in all material aspects.”

The Commissioner of Audit, Choi Mei Lei, made brief introduction to the Audit Report on the Accounts of the Macao Government of Year 2004 at the Legislative Assembly on November 1st, and put forward that the Commission will develop a new model for audit of accounts based on systems audit and in parallel to risk-oriented audit in the coming four and five years.

The Commission of Audit has recently completed two audit reports, the Performance Audit Report on the Research on the Deployment and Management of Secretarial Post and the Special Regularity Audit Report on the Implementation of Expenditure Budgets, and submitted to the Chief Executive for examination, which was further submitted to the Legislative Assembly.
