On 22 March 2023, a delegation led by the Director of the Audit Office of Guangdong Province, Mr. Ma Xuebin, visited the Audit Commission of Macao at the invitation of the Commissioner of Audit, Mr. Ho Veng On. The two sides discussed issues related to strengthening ties and deepening cooperation.

Mr. Ho Veng On thanked the Audit Office of Guangdong Province for its support to the Audit Commission of Macao over the years, especially the exchanges in the areas of training, legal system and computer-aided audit. Through the exchange of opinions and sharing of practical experience in these areas, the audit personnel have benefited a lot, which would help improve the quality of audit work and keep pace with the development. With the further development of regional cooperation and the construction of the Greater Bay Area, the work of the audit institutions of the two regions must also be carried out from a global perspective, making contributions to the promotion of policy implementation. He hoped that both sides will continue to deepen the pragmatic cooperation based on the results achieved in the past, and promote the stable development of the audit work of the two regions to better fulfill the role and function of the audit.

Mr. Ma Xuebin introduced the work of the Audit Office of Guangdong Province in recent years, pointing out that the audit institutions at all levels in Guangdong Province have continued to study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, learning and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech and the spirit of his important instructions on audit work, turning the learning outcomes into ideas, measures and strong impetus to guide and promote audit work in the new era, and performing the supervision function of audit in accordance with the law, in order to build a centralized, unified, comprehensive, authoritative and efficient monitoring system of audit, and promote the audit work of Guangdong Province in the new era to a new stage. Based on the good cooperation established in the past, the audit institutions of the two regions should organize regular exchange and visit activities, maintain active communication with each other. Mr. Ma stressed on the plan to reorganize the “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Audit Conference”, which has been suspended for three years, and further deepen cooperation in training on audit work.

During the meeting, members of the Audit Commission introduced the situation and the development trend of the work carried out in recent years, and both sides had a candid exchange of views on issues of mutual interest. The delegation of the Audit Office of Guangdong Province included the Second-level Inspector, Xiao Bingxiang, the Office Director, Jiang Linsheng, and the Deputy Office Director, Peng Hao.
