Commissioner of Audit, Ho Veng On, attended the XXIV Congress of International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions

At the invitation of the China National Audit Office (CNAO), the Commissioner of Audit, Mr. Ho Veng On, departed for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the XXIV Congress of International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) from 7 to 11 November, as a member of the China Delegation. During the Congress, Mr. Ho Veng On met with the heads of audit institutions from various countries and exchanged views on the management and development of audit institutions.

The two main themes discussed in this Congress were “The Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in Emergency Situations” and “Global Voice, Global Outcome, Far-Reaching Impact”. The Congress aimed to enhance the accountability and good governance of governments around the world through the sharing of experience, thematic discussions, and the adoption of resolutions and recommendations.

During the Congress, Deputy Auditor General of CNAO, Mr. Zhang Ke, introduced the development of big data in auditing at the International Forum on Government Auditing. Commissioner of Audit, Mr. Ho Veng On, participated in various thematic conferences and all activities, and presented the latest situation of the Audit Commission of Macao to the representatives of CNAO, hoping to receive continued technical support from CNAO in personnel training and the construction of audit informatization. During the group discussions, Mr. Ho Veng On joined the group of the Portuguese-speaking countries to exchange views on issues of common concern. The event resulted in the adoption of the Rio Declaration, with a view to promoting the government auditing to a new milestone.

The International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) was established in 1953 and currently has 196 full members, 5 associate members and 2 affiliate members. INCOSAI is held every three years, and since the establishment of the Audit Commission of the Macao Special Administrative Region, it has been invited by CNAO to participate in each Congress.
