Commission of Audit attended the 5th Forum of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Functions and the 11th General Assembly of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (OISC/CPLP)

As an observer, the Commission of Audit of the Macao Special Administrative Region participated in the 5th Forum of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) with Jurisdictional Functions and the 11th General Assembly of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (OISC/CPLP) held in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, from 18 to 21 October.

Participants in the Forum includes the Presidents and representatives of the Audit Courts from Ecuador, Philippines, Senegal, Latvia, France, Ivory Coast and Djibouti, as well as the heads of Audit Courts of Portuguese-speaking countries. The Forum focused on how the SAIs with jurisdictional functions can fight against fraud and corruption more effectively, and participants agreed on further exchange of experience and the importance of discussing multilateral cooperation.

In the 11th General Assembly of the OISC/CPLP, there were the Presidents of the Audit Courts from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, and East Timor, as well as the representative of the Commission of Audit.

The Assembly approved the proposal for adopting Portuguese as one of the official languages of International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), and also discussed how Audit Courts can implement the standards which are advocated by INTOSAI and applicable to Audit Courts with jurisdictional functions.

Besides, the Assembly also adopted the annual plan for the execution of the OISC/CPLP Strategic Plan 2017-2022, and submitted the draft of the OISC/CPLP Strategic Plan 2023-2028. Meanwhile, the Assembly passed a resolution confirming the 2022 Seminar and the 2023 General Assembly of the OISC/CPLP will be held in Guinea-Bissau, while the Portuguese Court of Auditors will continue to be the Study and Training Center and the Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts will be the General Secretariat.

On 20 October, the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, received the Presidents of the Audit Courts attended in this Assembly and the representative of the Commission of Audit at the Office of the President.
