The President of Think Tank of United Citizen (TTUC), Si Ka Lun, along with the Vice President Chao Peng and the Director Anna Chan, visited the Commission of Audit (CA) on Monday to understand the audit aims and its general implementation. The Commissioner of Audit, Ho Veng On met with the delegation and transmitted topics on audit initiation, projects management, inspection and promotion of good governance of the public sector.

A total of 18 representatives of TTUC listened to a brief presentation of "Understanding the Audit Culture" by CA staff, which referred to the establishment and responsibilities of the CA, entities to be audited, types of the report, effectiveness of audit, auditing processes established by law, etc. At the end of the presentation, the participants raised questions and exchanged opinions related to audit work.

Commissioner Ho Veng On emphasized that the CA is strict with its works and has professional standards. From the initiation of the audit to the disclosure of the reports, the work is carried out in an orderly manner and in accordance with the law. As the sectors of society have increasingly paid attention to the use of public money and the performance of public services, the requirement of CA's standard is increasingly high, thus CA remains committed to its work. Ho Veng On also stated that auditing, disclosure of audit results, accountability of public services, promotion of the exercise of functions and good use of public resources are the core beliefs and work objectives that the CA has persistently implemented. On the other side, through an effective control of the public power, auditing will also contribute to promoting good governance in the public sector, ensuring compliance with the laws, detecting illegal acts and combating any abuse of power; these are also common aspirations and expectations of the general public regarding to audit work.

Anna Chan, representing the TTUC, thanked for the detailed presentation and believed that through this event, the association would understand better the audit work and strengthen communication between both parties.

The CA has been making efforts to promote audit culture and conducting lectures directed to those newly recruited to public administration and to Security Forces personnel during careers promotion. The CA also conducts promotion activities to associations and higher education institutions presenting audit functions and concepts of the good use of public resources.
