At the invitation of the China National Audit Office (CNAO), the Commissioner of Audit, Ho Veng On, as a member of Chinese delegation, attended the 14th Congress of Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 19 to 22 September. The President of Vietnam met with the heads of participating delegations. During the conference, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, and the Auditor General of CNAO, Hu Zejun, officially took over as the Secretary General of ASOSAI.
Hu Zejun participated in the 52nd meeting of Governing Board which was held before the conference, and co-chaired the 7th Symposium of “Environmental Auditing for Sustainable Development” with Ho Duc Phou, the Auditor General of State Audit Office of Vietnam, and Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, the Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia. As the Secretary General of ASOSAI, Hu Zejun jointly presided over the 53rd meeting of Governing Board with Ho Duc Phou, the Chairman of ASOSAI and the Auditor General of State Audit Office of Vietnam. More than 190 representatives from 40 countries and international organizations participated in this conference.
As the member of Chinese delegation, Ho Veng On attended all the meetings of this conference, and had the opportunity to exchange views with the Auditor General of CNAO, Hu Zejun, the Deputy Director of Audit Commission of Hong Kong, Chu Nai Cheung, and other directors of audit institutions on the theme of the conference and other topics, such as the management and development of audit institutions.
Since joining the ASOSAI in 1983, CNAO has chaired the ASOSAI twice in 1991-1994 and 2006-2009. Currently, it has always played an important role as it also assumes the chairmanship of the Environmental Auditing Committee which is the only standing technical institution of ASOSAI. In its position as the Secretary General of ASOSAI, CNAO will take the leadership role for a long time, which will continue to exert an important influence in ASOSAI.
