The “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Audit Conference 2017” organized by the Audit Office of Guangdong Province, was held in Meizhou of Guangdong Province from 10 to 13 November. At the invitation of organizer, the Commissioner of Audit, Ho Veng On, led the delegation to attend the conference, and exchanged views on audit issues of mutual concern with the Director of the Audit Commission of Hong Kong, Sun Tak-kei, the Director General of the Audit Office of Guangdong Province, He Lijuan, and the Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group, Lu Rongchun.

Over 80 audit experts and scholars from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau participated in the conference. Directors of the three audit institutions delivered the opening addresses, in which Ho Veng On pointed out that as the regional cooperation has been deepen, and the development of Bay Area has been gaining good momentum, the communication and cooperation on audit field between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau must be more frequently. Taking advantage of this, audit counterparts can learn from each other to promote mutual development. During the conference, participants presented papers around the topic of resources and environment audit. The Director of the Audit Bureau, Neoh Hwai Beng, and the Head of the Research and Methodology Division, Fong Kuok Io, also presented a paper entitled “The overview of resources and environment in Macau and the related audit work”.

During the stay in Meizhou, Ho Veng On and his delegation visited the audit institution of Meizhou city, and shared opinions with the experts of the Audit Office of Guangdong Province on the management and technical problems faced in the big data auditing. As CA will study the feasibility of reforming computer-aided audit system, this visit provided a chance for its staff to increase the related technical and practical knowledge, helping plans to be steadily implemented in the future.
