2015/01/14

The Commission of Audit (CA) is conducting a two-week course on International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs) for its staff, in order to let them upgrade their knowledge in this field and become acquainted with experience related to the application of these standards internationally. For delivering the course, CA invited experienced trainers from the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan, which plays a central role in training within the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI).

Along the course, from January 5 to 16, Afzaal Fizza Parvez (director of the Audit Department on Post, Telegraph and Telecommunication), Muhammad Raza Shah (controller of military accounts) e Khurram Raza Qureshi (chief finance and accounts officer) presented the most recent versions of the ISSAI and together with the trainees examined their application in financial, performance and compliance auditing in the public sector.

The course, carried out with the support of the training base of ASOSAI, is part of CA’s policy aiming at maintaining an audit team of high standards. Since its establishment and with the support of ASOSAI, CA has been inviting experienced trainers from the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan to conduct training courses, which are organized to target CA’s personnel and institutional development needs. From year 2000 up to 2013, nine basic and upgrading training courses have been carried out, focusing on different areas of financial and performance audits; and in 2013, a course was devoted to computer assisted auditing techniques. Along the present year, CA will involve more experienced trainers from ASOSAI in its staff development programme, targeting CA’s present needs and future development projects, so that all audit officers assigned to governmental audit projects are knowledgeable and competent on international standards.

CA will continue to strengthen the cooperation in human resources training with the National Audit Office, the Court of Accounts of Portugal, the Audit University of Nanjing, the Audit Department of Guangdong, the Audit Commission of Hong Kong and with ASOSAI, in order to offer conditions to its staff to deepen and widen their professional knowledge as well as learning new audit techniques. By this doing, CA ensures its staff will guarantee the quality of their audit works and fulfil the duties on them entrusted.
