Finance director of Portugal’s Court of Auditors lectures on public accounting

In cooperation with the Court of Auditors of Portugal, the Commission of Audit of Macau (CA) has been carrying out a series of training courses in order to broaden the professional skills of its staff. Following the courses on audit law and financial audit delivered earlier, Ms. Júlia Serrano, finance director of the Court of Auditors of Portugal, is presently lecturing a five-day course on public accounting, which started on June 16. A total of 21 senior officers from CA, Legislative Assembly, Public Prosecutions Office, Commission Against Corruption and Financial Services Bureau are participating.

The program of the course mainly includes the following: basic concepts of public accounting; introduction to “Cash Basis Management Accounting” and “Income Statement and Balance Sheet of Accrual Accounting”, Standard Chart of Government Accounts and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS); and Standardized Accounting System.

In order to better fulfill the mission of audit in a rapid developing society, CA is committed to raise the professional competence of its staff on a permanent basis and therefore timely organizes training activities specifically oriented to meeting their needs and also encourages them to improve themselves continuously.
